Food allergies

We do our best to create meals for customers with food allergies. However, we cannot guarantee an allergen‑free environment on board our aircraft and we serve nuts and foods containing allergens on all our flights.

Other passengers may also bring their own food on board, which means traces of allergens may be present in the cabin air or on surfaces. Unless required by applicable law, Emirates will not make inflight announcements for passengers with allergies.

While we offer special medical or dietary meals (including gluten‑intolerant and lactose‑intolerant meals), these are produced in facilities that handle a wide range of ingredients, including allergens. Therefore we cannot guarantee that any meal is completely free of allergenic ingredients or traces.

We recommend to customers with nut allergies or any other food allergies:

  • To discuss travel and allergy action plans with their doctor before they fly;
  • To carry their prescribed medication (including epinephrine auto‑injectors); and
  • To bring their own meals that do not require refrigeration, heating or other special handling onboard.

Your safety and wellbeing are important to us. We encourage passengers with severe allergies to inform us of their allergy in advance so we can provide guidance and take reasonable steps, where possible.
